okay so, I finally decided to try 5.50GEN firmware and my conclusion is ..... I don't like it.
first of all I had to give up my 1.50 brew which I didn't really want to but, I guess I can live without it. secondly, no more game categories plugin which really sucks cause I like to keep things organized. thirdly, gpsp don't work :( keep getting some kind of homehook error... and on top of all that when entering the game section everything loads so damn slow even with the hide pic1 option on :(
don't see the upside of updating from 5.00m33 to be honest so I'm going back....
I guess everyone here must use PSP-1000 models, 'cause I could swear the 1.50 kernel doesn't work on slims. Second, I never really used the game categories plugin (never figured out how to use it), so I can deal, third, if you're talking about the Game Boy Advance emulator, the newest gPSP mod works just fine for me. Fourth, I really don't notice the slow loading times.

But eh, it's your decision.
did you install the 550gen update-b>? i have no slow game menu loading and i ahve a 16gig memstick,. ;p
you can try PreviewContentsHider made by total_noob!! you can hide and unhide images for game eboots and when you hide backgrounds for each game the loading time of game menu is even faster then on 550m33,. offcourse this plugin is also for 500m33 so,. :/

also game categories will come for 550gen,. and if i understand correctly even better with infobar suport!

dunno about gpsp,.
uh i run GEN on my slim and gpsp works fine, plus eveything else the only thing it lacks is the in game music via the custom firmware extender (the fatsmod patch don't work is all)
solved the slowdown problem by formatting flash1 :) and yeah, I am on GEN-B.. tried going back to 5.00m33 with hellcat's recovery tool but I keep getting an error when trying to flash 5.00 grrrrrr!!  I know that bubbletune is working on a game categories plugin that's compatible with 5.50 and that's great and all, but I want my emulators to work too :(

EDIT: Snes9xTYL doesn't work either :(

are you running the latest gpsp? cause i swear mines working fine, plus a bunch of my other emulators i havnt run into much that's not working properly on it
SNES9xTYL doesn't work on it, either? 'Cause I have both of those emulators, and they both work like a charm!

EDIT: Tell you what, I'll send you the GBA and SNES emulators I use in a PM. I've just got to wait until I get my PSP back from my roommate, get the folders out, clean out the ROMS and saves folders, and put them somewhere for you to download. ...Unless that's against the rules here?
snes9x works fine too

I'm using the unofficial gpsp kai 3.2 test 8.6 version. it's the only version that runs every rom I have flawlessly.

EDIT: thanks Schmilk will try them now..

EDIT2: tried the snes emu u uploaded and still doesn't work..just goes back to the xmb when I launch it :(
