Is there a version of the game categories plugin that works on 5.50 GEN-B? If there is, can somebody provide a download link?
Not yet. But BubbleTune said when he does update it, it will be better than ever

What about TX? His research is going into that too.
But his new Game Categories is really amazing. He hasn't sent me a test copy yet, but I've talked with him about it for ages.

The plugin is fully rewritten from the beginning, and I'm not sure what all he wants to keep as a surprise ;) But my testing on 5.00 has been great and once its fully working there then the 5.50 compatabillity will be implemented which is what I really want!!
Just know that the way you can select options and features has never been done before on the psp by a plugin!!
Now you got me hyped !

What i actually want is make the game show on the XMB like the PS3 + sort by last played
much more handier. =/ wonder if that even possible
