yesterday my ps3 gave up on me...... i was just playing resident evil 5 as normal when all of a sudden the game froze and a couple of seconds later the system went off..... i now have a red light of death and i think i may know the cause..... when the ps3 was plugged in earlier i got a tingle from the metal strip where the disc drive is so there must be a short circuit there somewhere....... i don't know if it's fixable or if I'll be needing a new system soon..,. all i know is that I'm pissed off.....
What will you do? No PS3, half-dead computer... At least you have a kick donkey synth set-up... That'll keepm you entertained over the coming weeks...
ive had the touch strip on my PS3 give me static shocks before.
also: if any of you have a plasma ball, turn it on and then attempt to turn on your PS3. when i turn on the plasma ball, it renders the touchpad non-functional until i turn it off.

good thing you didnt hit your ps3 .. otherwise youd be really pissed :D
Thank god Wii's are immortal.
If it's a software problem you could try
THIS
But if it's a hardware problem like you think...... don't think you have many options
I remember Nacos was always talking about some service where you pay like $5 a month and its like insurance for your PS3. When mine died, he told me to get it, but I couldn't cause I'm in the US. I'd send him a PM about it.
ouch =/
*must take care of my ps3 more*
