Were you ever annoyed that your IM chat logs were scattered between different IM clients or different computers?
While surfing the web i found a fairly elegant solution by using Google Mail and Google Talk.

Google Talk is using the XMPP/Jabber Protocol which can connect to other networks like ICQ and MSN through transports/gateways.
Unfortunately Google did not install any transports on its servers, so wee have to use the transports of other servers http://www.jabberes.org/servers/

For the initial setup i recommend using the Gajim Jabber Client.
How To: Configuring Gajim for Google Talk
After you connected to your Gtalk, you go to Actions » Discover Service, enter a server from the list. Now you just need to register to the transports of your choice.
ICQ numbers should automatically resolve to nicknames, MSN/Live Messenger addresses however do not ...

Now you can login from anywhere and any jabber/gtalk client, talk to your friends on MSN or ICQ. And since Google Mail can log your Google Talk chats, all of your chat history are in one place.
You could probably also use something like Pidgin or Trillian which can access multiple networks, but I guess the logs won't be stored in a central server unlike Google's solution.
