cross edge is not for casual jrpg players. it's hard at start, one of the hardest, especially if you play hard mode. (dieing in a random battle?), it's not a hack and slash game, it's like valkyrie profile and spectra souls, needs strategy every battle. srpg game.
cross edge, will take you more than 40+ hours to finish, 100+ if you want to get platinum.
prototype, it's like GTA meets HULK.
prototype can be finished with in 10-12 hours. then it becomes a free roam sandbox game after you finish, just to do the insane trophy requirements.
i got both,
I'm biased, if i have to buy only 1 right now, I'll get cross edge, for me JRPG > sandbox game. jRPG's are becoming rare now. hope ffxiii will revive the genre.

Dunno about cross edge but Prototype is kinda fun although the game could get boring just missing something,. some graphics are bad and some actions of Ai are weird also you will get bored by all the same vehicles and persons,. to me the game is fun but looks like its not finished,.. i doubt i will finish the story mode,.
Don't get me wrong these are kinda the bads,. the goods are very good! effects look great and movement is very slick! :)
Just started playing so have't seen much of the virus yet,. (wich will not only effect peoples but also buildings) hope the game gets better!
Prototype: 7/10
CrossEdge: unknown

i have CrossEdge and it is hard(i am playing on normal)
in one battle you can win fine
but also the same zone you do a battle and then you and get you donkey kick
there many chars in the from games made by different devs
Capcom, Gust, Idea Factory, Namco Bandai and Nippon Ichi
many many combos
many item to MAKE and find
you get costume the changes stats and females in the game images (NOT sprite)
the battle system can be a little hard at 1st but as you play you understand it
there is also 2d side scrolling dungeons to go different maps
the dungeons do have hidden items
weapons do change when you get use a new one
you can make eq better by addng items in to them
there many hidden thing to find to the game

try hard mode. only in hard mode you can access the 5-3 map, place to get to insane level, get insane ingredients, for insane equips XD.
or finish your normal mode, then on new game+, go hard mode. you get to transfer some from normal to hard.
but if hard to hard new game+, you keep everything except char levels.
I'm almost done in hard mode, maybe 2 more days.
they say after, on new game+, playing it straight is less than 10 hours, skipping random battles.
you can always play prototype in PC anyway, it's better looking i think if you have a good video card. like dmc4, pc version looks better.
and pc version can be free XD. then if you really like it, buy the ps3 version later on, price might drop later on, who knows. it will be a sure bestseller like inFAMOUS anyway.
