Chroma Wrote:Seriously, don't pirate official Apps. I mean, iPhone/iPod apps aren't expensive enough that you need to rob the developers of their already small revenue. I mean, something like iFart or whatever banal shit people push now isn't that bad to pirate, as it doesn't take that much effort to make those. Fieldrunners or Galcon or Aqua Forest, ie, quality pieces of software, though, you want to pay for. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into those, and they're usually made by indie developers who need the money. Just putting my two cents in, as a registered iPhone developer who is struggling to make an app. :)

Like others said, just install Winterboard, and from there, have fun with themes and games and apps on Cydia, and if you want, I can recommend a few awesome official SDK apps :)

I won't pirate actual games :/ only ones that i did were a dog whistle and ikana. I plan on buying some real games as soon as I get paid from my new job :)

Any recommendation from owners would be great, seeing as how there's SO much stuff :/
K. Here are some essential games.
-Metal Gear Solid Touch: It's Duck Hunt with PMC's and Gekkous.
-Fieldrunners: Tower defense in the best possible way
-Resident Evil Degeneration: It's essentially a portable, dumbed down Resident Evil 4, starring Leon and all.
-Brothers in Arms: It's a 3rd person shooter that surprisingly, works really well.
-Galcon: RTS simplified, one of the best iPhone/iPod Touch games yet.
-Aqua Forest: It's a physics puzzle/sandbox game that's hard to describe, but you need to play it. It'll be especially fun on your 2G, which has better game performance :)
-Pocket God: Wreak havoc on little islanders, stupid fun.
-Rolando: It's basically Loco Roco on iPhone/Touch. 'Nuff said.
-7 Days: An arcadey zombie shoot-em-up that's a fun timewaster
-Edge: 3d cube puzzle game. Awesomeness.

The only problem is that programmers are often paid a fixed salary, thus what you pay for the software doesn't actually go (at least directly) to the developers... >_>
is metal gear solid touch will be release also for ipod touch and not only in iphones?

Too true... while the tremendously brainstorming developer will come up with a innovative software, it is the company who will reap the rewards. He on the other hand will get a fixed salary + a bonus (maybe) and other incentives... >_>

Uhh, no, all apps will work on both iPhone and iPod Touch. The OS's on both are identical. MGS Touch was one I forgot, sorry. I'll add it to my list :>

Not in the case of the app store. They're paid 70% of the revenue their app generates, and a huge-donkey number of apps are made by indie devs, not big companies.

If that's the case, then that's certainly a different model.  Though I question the ability of single developers on that front.

Actually, if I recall correctly, Aqua Forest, Trism, and Galcon were made by 1-5 people, really small teams, and they're some of the best games on the store. It's surprising, imo.
