I did like AMD more but now i got Intel and its just that much faster cpu.

You really can't say that for certain.  There's only two competitors in the x86 CPU market, and after all, x86 is Intel's technology.  If you've studied other CPU architectures, x86 is quite a horrible architecture, but it gained popularity due to its ability to be backwards compatible.

If open source gains popularity wee may actually be able to move off the x86 platform altogether eventually.

Soon i hope so!!
Dunno where,. but i did read something about a new cpu wich is 4x faster then the i7 cpu's, dunno if it was x86! O_O
Intel is also somewhat known for their Itanium architecture processors.  Itanium was mainly designed for the server market.

Like AMD opteron CPU's,. ;p

Anyway there should be a new CPU soon wich will be 4x faster,. i just googled but could't find anymore or maybe i just read it somewhere,. somewhere else,.

Nope, AMD Opteron is still an x86 based architecture.  Itanium is completely different - your apps won't work on it.  Windows wouldn't either, though I believe there's an IA64 build of Windows for Itanium.  But apps like Photoshop, or almost all Windows apps which don't have source code given out won't work on IA64 unless it was specifically compiled to do so.

Intel does have upcoming processors, though I believe they're deliberately delaying the release to give i7 some more exposure.
So the fine goes through, though Intel can still appeal the decision.
