Endless Paradigm

i can beat shogun ceanataur easily, i jus use iron striker+ and hermitaur armour. ive gotten enough of all the materials i need to make ceanataur armour, but im having trouble getting the ceanataur pincer. i just can't get a hit in on his claws enough.

Any tips?

ive got good weapons. at least i think...
main ones i use are:
iron striker+, eager cleaver, khezu shock sword, hellsting, white gunlance, red saber, paladin lance, red tail, bladed edge, ravager blade+

all right, time for EP's main Monster Hunter to step in and offer some help...

if you're trying to break the shogun's claws, bring a shock trap and materials to make two more (trap tool + genprey fang to make the trap & book of combos 1 & 2 to ensure 100% combination success)....place the trap, get him stuck in it, and bash away at one of his claws until it breaks.  also, you only have to break one claw, breaking both does NOT increase rewards.

Be warned, however, that breaking one of the shogun's claw will leave him enraged for the remainder of the battle...make sure you bring plenty of healing items

as for what weapon to use, it all depends on what type of weapon you prefer...anything with decent thunder element (eager cleaver, khezu shock sword, etc...) or a hammer with high amounts of raw damage (iron striker+) should work quite well on him...again, it depends on what type of weapon you're most comfortable with

sorry its taken about a month or so to get back to you, lotta stuffs been happening and hadnt been on EP for a while. exams are fudgeing spoon

yeah, high sharpness + long sword usually the best for the pincer

Got a little excited.

i break the pincer every time but i only get  ceanataur pincer every three or so tries

is there anything to do to get it to drop more often?
also what does the sharp sword skill do?

pincers are kinda rare, just keep breaking claws and slaying shoguns and you'll eventually get what you need.

also, the sharp sword skill reduces the rate at which your weapon's sharpness decreases....very useful for dual swords, which lose sharpness really fast, but good for any weapon
