Piracy on the PSP has been around for a few years and has been damaging some of the developers motives to make games on the PSP.

I want it , where they at ? Do you think some new game title will use this technology in the near future ? I want good game double disk and 15 USD unit. cool

Hey guys this could be great.
I mean look at GOW:COO on the PSP.
It must've taken up most of it's memory from the graphics and as a result it's short.
And yes the game does use the full UMD storage, well almost.

Imagine what sort of games wee can have with this dual layered UMD.
Too bad sony might trash it because of piracy.

That's what i thought the problem was with the quality of the games not enough room on the UMD's....
Now sony says it is also so I'm good (by that i mean psp could handle much greater graphics but UMD's couldn't hold em)

And yes i understand what you mean Sparker about COO that's what made me realize the whole dilemma
And for the Whoop A Dee Doo of others a UMD Holds about 2GB... (i beleive it's 1.90GB)

actually UMD's are dual-layered and hold 1.8gb

single layer UMDs hold 900mb
The capacity of the UMD is not eaten up by the graphics of the game, but instead by the .pmf video files.  If they would render the movies in realtime using the game engine and animation scripts rather than create the movies on a pc, then encode as .pmf there is where you would save your files space!

Since you brought up God of War, I figured i would slap in my UMD and see just how big the moveis folder was...it is almost 1/2 the capacity of the disk!!  

THAT is where the UMD is wasting space....not the detail of the game graphics.
So lol it's already a double layer hehe...

And yeah schmilk i do realize that too because i rip them and i have a much smaller iso...
Though do ya think they can do that?

So either bigger UMD or a major PSP update

I thought 1.8 was the maxium space for the normal layer UMD
