I thought geography was more study of terrain on a larger scale...

i don't know, this is the first time i take Geo, anyway, wee are studying about how volcano affect the landscape and such

That would be Geology.

Geography would focus more on the wide scale aspect like atmosphere, water, land structure etc.

Geology would go into the land part is detail...
