You're not allowed much use of the internet on missions, only to check your church-given email that you can use to stay in contact with friends and family.

I mean if they trust in you to spread your beliefs, they should trust you with things like the internet.

They just see it as a distraction, really, and I don't blame em. When you're on a mission, you have a schedule you have to follow everyday, and there would really be no time for internet anyway.
One thing I realized, though, is what's so appealing to me about going on a mission. It's not the "sharing my beliefs" thing, it's the service aspect of it. Missionaries just show people that they're willing to help in the betterment of people's lives in any way. I mean, it's basically a 2-year humanitarian/community service trip, and it'll give me a chance to think about the rest of my life without distraction.
