I'll have to agree here... Microsoft won't release anything substantially impressive till the Midori core is in place - real progress.
grr...i left the burnout demo downloading overnight, then woke up to a screen sying that my last browsing session ended unexpectedly...now i have to try again...

Not particularly - I don't recall so much hype about Vista really.
feinicks Wrote:Also, though no one here is doing it, it is unfare to compare 7 to XP. XP is old. 7's true potential will be realised once the core count goes beyond 6 core (which are supposedly to arrive by year end).
Win7 is keeping kernel modifications to a minimum as MS plans to keep driver compatibility with Vista.
Old means absolutely nothing really. I can name plenty of old products which work far better than newer ones. But I'm not here to debate about Win7 vs XP - that's your choice :P

I do. A lot of negative hype. I clearly remember people saying how poo poo it's going to be cause the beta takes 1.5GB of memory just to run or something (in the age when not even enthusiasts had more than 2GB of RAM).

Sounds like bullchocolate to me.
You realise for running windows and stuff, more cores does not really equal fast. A E8500 would run windows better than a Q6600 (same price) in 9 situations out of 10. Most of windows stuff is still serial. Neither is windows so hard to run that it would need something the power of a 6 core processor to run properly. An Intel Atom can run Windows 7 fine.
I should make this clear, by linking you to the article which says this... if I can find it...

This sucks. Win7 makes it so even crappy computers can handle it. I liked how you needed a high-end PC to get full performance in Vista.
I'm going to have a i7 and 12GB of RAM by the end of the week, now it's going to feel unneeded :(

have multiple monitors and play different games in each one of them
WIN7WIN!!
damn i am glad i installed the latest 7057!!
looks so
I know! It's amazing how many changes and tweaks are added just going from build pre-beta»7000»7048»7057! They are working overtime on this bitch!
Is 7057 being called the RC1 release now?

But look at it this way, if it is so easy to run that even poo poo computers can run it. Then your high-end computer can run it even faster (faster than if it was really hard to run).
And you still got the advantage in gaming and encoding and stuff, which was probably the main reason why you bought your high end PC in the first place.

Lol @ 12GB RAM. Do you run like 3 games, 4 video encodes and 5 7zip compressions at the same time?
IMO 4GB is all you need these days (if you on Core i7, then 6GB), while some people I know argue that even 4GB is overkill, and 2GB is the way to go.
