its a  gamestop certified refurb...the hardddrive is definitely bad, as well as the sata controller and/or the motherboard....from my guesses..

ps2 games are all very dark like there is a transparent black overlay..that doesn't look good to my eyes and thye are a bit choppy too..only tried the original SSX, and that's how it was..

so fudge the backwards compatability..i don't care for it so much..and in 2 hours I am taking it back and getting a BRAND SPANK MY donkey new one!  Then there are no questions about it, and all should work well!

gamestop certified refurb probably means someone gave theirs back (maybe for the problem that you are describing, and they regret to tell the staff), and they just sell it again.

yeah I'm laughing about it too...It's been 2 years of waiting and FINALLY I had some extra money and Mrs says I could really buy it AND i found the 60gb so I was super excited but I have only played for MAYBE for 3 hours total out of the 20+ hours its been on since i got it home Friday...what a cluster fudge...If the next one crashes ever I'm taking it back and will spend the money on something i really need like a garage door opener...who'd've thunk a new house doesn't come with a garage door opener?



all boxed up ready to go away...its REAL shiny cause i used some plastic polish i bought for polishing the psp screen
