I was gonna upgrade ram but I read somewhere the most ram 32 bit can use is 3 gigs...
So I don't see the point
also, yeah ram helps... The school has 3.0 ghz dual core computers but they absolutely suck because they only have 512 mb of ram
such a shame... :(

Same, except for the really new ones that have 2gb of RAM, but also have 80GB drives that fail a little too often. Roughly 1 a week.

Our uni has E8400s with 4GB of RAM (actually better than my home comp). No I'm not bullshitting you, they really do. Just got them this year, replacing some old P4s. The uni's kinda rich.

I bought from Plymouth Uni a 3Ghz P4 with 1GB of RAM (what my current systam has been built on. I've replaced pretty much everything except for the CPU and RAM) for £90 2 years ago. When you consider that new it cost £2000-ish that's a a fair bit of depreciation for only 3 years of service The graphics card alone (Matrox Parhelia) cost £500 new. Then again when I first opened it up I couldn't breathe for a few hours after, it was that dusty. It had sat in an engineering workshop turned on constantly. The case had a dent in it where a small girder fell on top of it. After cleaniong it out and hammering out the dent it was fine.

Yeah, running Crysis on Vista with 2GB of RAM would be a kinda bottleneck. 3GB should remove it.
You can usually tell however, since your HDD would be sounding like crazy from all the swap usage.

4GB RAM wasn't enough for me it seems, so I just bought a few more 4GB sticks ^_^
