have any of you guys tried it on your flashpens the speed increase in transfers is noticeable :D
it can now be used in readyboost in win 7 also
discuss
Nope, haven't tried it yet.
I hardly ever use USB flash drives any more these days though. My portable HDD has replaced all of those.
According to Wiki, does it require Vista to use it? If so, it won't work for me, since every computer I interact with (except secondary home PC) is running XP (my PC, work PC, public computers, Uni computers etc).
What block size are you using?
32kb block size by default it goes up to 32mb block size :D
by default format to exfatis available on win 7
new microsoft update came out around last week with exfat drivers for xp and vista though vista could read since sp1
so update :D
also the overhead is smallerm ntfs uses around 47mb on a 4gb this uses around 900kb
it also has the 4gb file size limit removed
The exFAT file system driver incorporates the following advanced structures to improve performance:
* A cluster bitmap for fast allocation
* A per-file contiguous bit for fast file access
* Better contiguous on-disk layout (useful for recording movies)
* Support for Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) time stamps
im gonna try this shiz out

How does exFAT's 32KB block size compare to FAT32's 64KB block size in terms of speed?
By the way larger block size = faster, but more space wastage.

Problem is public computers are unlikely to have the update installed >_>

Only the first of those would actually improve performance...
Contiguous layout is more useful for HDDs, not flash drives...
I might give it a try sometime. Thanks for the heads up :P
EDIT: doesn't appear that a 64-bit XP driver exists. Don't really have a spare USB handy either, so I'll skip on this one for now.
