Could anyone recommend me a good shonen anime that would be fine for a 9/10 yr old boy (can't remember any of my siblings ages lol)

Death Note is too complex for a 9/10 yo (and Code Geass). Sure, they'll get all the action, but nothing more (like story). Besides, kids that age who aren't mature may try writing their own death note at school (which can cause quite a bit of trouble).
EDIT: lol, now I see the part about you joking about DN and CG...
And MehHakker, many episodes of Naruto are dubbed (it comes on Cartoon Network. Too bad I hate it, haha).
DRAGONBALL Z For the win. Seriously, that's the only anime you'll need to show him. Get him the entire thing, and he'll spend the next year obsessed. Best thing you can ever do for any 8-11yo kid.
