Let's see, I've actually played a dating sim before - really entertaining (as in stupidly funny).
*sigh* If life were a dating sim... You just say hi to a girl, then when she gives you her phone number, you can dance around to the realisation that you're relationship level has gone up. Then, when you reach the "Close Friend" level, just buy about 10 rings, and every time you give one to her, she'll act surprised and be very grateful that you gave her one. By about the 5th ring, your relationship level will grow to "Girlfriend" (yes, dance around again)... blah blah blah...
I was considering playing Fate/Stay Night and Tsukihime for quite some time actually.

I've played thru one route of tsukihime (has to turn up as the same route as the anime :() and havn't bothered doing another route yet.
And since the translation patch for Fate/Stay Night was released, i might go thru it sometime later.

U won't really understand unless u've actually read one. It's the same as people who never seen anime saying it's kiddy cartoon spoon meant for 7yo kids, while althought that's true sometimes, it's mostly not the case.

The difference being dating sims have storylines almost completely about hooking up with girls and stuff, while visual novels often have better more anime-like storylines... well, the better ones atleast, the rest are dating sims.
U ever seen anime series like Tsukihime, Fate/Stay Night, Kanon, AIR, Shuffle, Da Capo, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien... they are all based off visual novels, with the earlier few examples having pretty much nothing to do with hooking up with girls.

Only the Fate route is translated so far though. Fate/Stay Night actually costs quite a bit for a doujin game though =/

Now wee hope that the authors of the patch doesn't read this, cause they are full anti-piracy, and threatened to completely stop release of any future patches the last time someone hosted a torrent with their patch and the game together.
