Just read what a Vocaloid is - how good are these? Like will it be able to recognise phrasing? Sounds interesting - if there's a good software package, I might give it a shot some time.

They are mostly for Jpop, they can sing English with a little skill from the user.quite hard to use, i would recommend you to download it first, try out, then buy it.
Heres a few good sample: (note that Vocaloid is REALLY famous in japan, so theres alot of songs)
01: Hatsune Miku
Song: Hypothesis:

02: Kagamine Rin
Song: Kokoro
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhOL1TxuzeM
02: Kagamine Len (as you would notice, they are twin)
Song: Servant of evil
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7jodFEVAbY
Note: Kokoro has a Len's Version called Kokoro Kiseki, they tell the same story, just from a different point of view.
Servant of evil is another Version of Rin's "Daughter of Evil" tell the same story, yes, another point of view
There's also Meiko, Kaito but i don't listen to em much so ... xD
There is English Vocaloid called Leon,Lola, but they arnt so famous as the Japanese one.
so to conclude it:
Miku is the eldest sister, then the twin come out,
as you note in the link i post above, Megurine Luka is said to be not in the same blood?line as those three.
sorry if it confuse you more xD my English has it limit

Quote:This time, the voice behind Luka (Reminds me of Luka from Ar Tonelico 2, which is a pretty awesome game.) is Yu Asakawa. You can hear a sample of her voice at her profile page.
