Speaking of FF1 I beat big bad Shinryu, the strongest boss in the game today. Chronodia is probably stronger but ol' Shinny is no push over mind you, also this is through the GBA version not the PSP one (Got to try him on that version at some point).
Anyway here's some screenshots to prove my achievement! Oh in case you're wondering my characters are all at Lvl68. Though I fed some Silver Apples to my Ninja.
now to take on Omega who is clearly weaker despite Shinryu following him!
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah
Now how long did it take you to get the levels and stuff you needed?
Heh, I beat him (long time ago back then) by hacking. Because I don't have the patience, the interest nor the time to just sit there leveling up and getting the right gear/items/skills. I also beat Emerald and Ruby the same way.
EDIT:... wait... FF1? Ok, never beat him them. Never finished playing FF1. There's a similarly named hard boss in FF4 or 5. That's the one I beat.
Actually I'll be honest getting through the Lifespring Grotto was much harder. It was really testing my patience. Several times I was like... oh god.... when is it the last floor.... aughghghdfhfd

Not very long. I got most of my exp from the other two horriblly tedious dungeons (Earthgift Shrine, and Hellfire Chasm). I haven't fully finished the Hellfire place though. Need to try that at some point.
I was Lvl65 when I entered the place though, even if its horribly tedious its pretty good exp O_O

Yeah Shinny first appeared in FF5. He's much much harder in that one. Even Bolt3 + X-Fight wasn't enough to slaughter the thing, I killed him but only my Dragoon was left to tell the tale ==;
Edited my last post.
I dislike cheating games normally, makes it boring. But for these kinds of stuff (beating up optional super hard bosses), I love cheating. Lol. Mainly so I can tell my friends (who spent like ages grinding the levels) that it took me 10 minutes to hack it. (Heh, my friend took like 3 weeks mastering Knights of the Round, getting the levels and everything for FF7. He hated me so much after I told him).
I still need to beat chronodia :(
He/she/it pwnt me at max level :(
Even when I cheated :(

That's exactly why I want to fight the thing =)

But... grinding is half the fun!

Well, I'm not as patient as you. Grinding usually annoys me.

EDIT:... Ok, so that boss is PSP. Then disregard what I said bellow.
How did you cheat?
If you're on emulator, make a save state, and go edit some values in it. You can like max out all your stats, and stuff like that. If you do that, you shouldn't be able to loose... unless the boss is like THAT hard...

I'm playing the psp version and I'm cheating using cwcheat, after all chrondia I'm pretty sure is only in the PSP version, I only maxed out my levels and got uber equipment I didn't want to totally cheat the fight I mean then what's the point?
You can read more on the chrondia fight in my blog entry.
On the other hand I'm actaully attempting 4 black belts (the dead worse class) and I managed to get up to the cavern of earth, still having trouble in random encounters but I'm suprised I've gotten that far but then again the difficulty is really nerfed in the PSP version.
Even if the difficulty is nerfed I'm still have lots of trouble, don't think I've would've gotten that far if it was the NES version.

Looking at when Sparker was fighting that uh... thing it looks like the only real danger is when Chronodia casts Haste and uses physical attacks over and over which he/she/it seems to do a lot. It breaks the Max HP limit doing around 1200 damage. Seal seems pretty annoying but its probable to work around it.
Shinny's AoEs do more damage though. Tidal Wave does 700 damage, Chronodia's Flare only does 600. Shinny's Flare does around the same damage too.
