Finally our contract ended so I can get a better internet connection.
So found a reasonably good ADSL2+ deal for 12GB (+48GB offpeak) quota, 20Mbps/1Mbps up/down for ~$55/month (including phone).
Problem is, although our exchange is ADSL2+ enabled, wee're on a stupid Telstra RIM, meaning wee can't get ADSL2+ (chances of a transposition working are slim too).
So, I'm stuck on the more expensive ADSL1. So I looked around for 1.5Mbps connections. Our budget is $70/month (which includes phone, since parents seem to want to keep the PSTN line). Most places give line rental+phone service for $30/month, leaving $40/month for internet. If you look around though, most 1.5Mbps services cost at least $50/month (unless you're getting like a 1GB/month quota).
I did manage to find a 8GB (+8GB offpeak) for $40/month - but when you actually go to sign up, there's a nice hidden $10/month charge (you have to make a minimum of $10 calls every month - wee don't even get close to that much)...
Gah, Aussie internet sucks...
