so right now i ran a bit outside because i felt like it (checking the mail at first)
so i came back and my heart was pumping really hard when i got home and sat down it was still doing it (obviously)
now i have no idea how i did this but it sure as hell was weird, i was annoyed that my heart was beating pretty hard so i just did something really strange; i put my hand on my chest and sucked in some air. I felt my heart pulsing really hard (like 3 beats a second :P) and when i focused on it my heart slowed down and started beating 1 pulse a second(heck, i think my heart stopped 0_0), but it i started to feel weird and my chest hurt a bit and when i took my mind off slowing down my heart, my pulse went back to beating really hard
yeah, this sure is a useless thread and im swear im not trying to say im special or anything but is this something normal? can people slow down their heartrate like i just did right now?
it sure is weird.....
holding your breath will cause your heart to slow because it will realize it must conserve the limited oxygen in your blood...
I believe that is partially why holding your breath to long knocks you out

Running/sex/swimming/movement/activity = activity = need for more oxygen = heartbeats faster.
Slow breathing/deep breathing/couch potato-ing/non acitivity = non activity = less need for oxygen= heart slows down to normal rate.
above = yeah its normal.

ok cool, i thought i had a health problem or something xD
However, 3 beats per second under exercise is probably a little too high... Typically your heart speeds up around double your resting pulse after exercise. You sure it did go close to 180bpm (whilst your resting pulse is close to 60bpm)?

that was more of a hyperbole (well not really, whatever); i was just trying to get the point across that my heart was beating fast :P
but i don't know my bpm right now (could check, but i keep forgetting how to do it correctly)

Eh, count the number of times your heart beats in like 15 seconds, then multiply that by 4 - close enough. (but it doesn't really matter, as long as you survive :P)
