2 days ago, it just went silent. I didn't drop it or anything, must have died itself. Try to plug it in, and absolutely nothing happens, makes no sound.

Along with 140GB of my data. Sadist It hasn't even been a full year yet since I bought it, which means I maybe able to get a refund/replacement for the HDD, but the data is not coming back.

Now on second thought, it could be the case that the electronics within the case thing that holds the HDD broke rather than the HDD itself. I'm hoping it's that, then I just need to buy a new case, which is much cheaper.
Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder if it is a power failure type of thing...
If so I would hope it is in the chord or something...

twould be terrible to lose all that data

what is on said hardrive anyway?

sigh
yeh my portable 2.5inch 250gb has 89gb of anime still got another 8gb to add

200 grams of awesome

more likely its the case test the HD in something else
and technically you should be able to open the case and connect the HD to your computer internally (if it is a regular sized external HD)
if not... then it gets complicated..

actually if its a sata it doesn't matter on size
you know, same story goes for my 500gb too, except that my brother destroyed it, and it almost fulfilled with anime and games =.= . along with my vocaloid2 installer ( which the torrent doesn't have any seeds left ) ... so yea, highfive for the same misfortune

There's about 90GB of anime, like 20GB of movies, and other stuff like some music, music vids, ISOs, programs, and backups of some stuff on my computer. Had all my school stuff on there too.

Yeah, I will do that (test in another case). I'll wait till my dad comes back from interstate, and stick my HDD in his case.

It's a laptop HDD. Desktop ones would be kinda too big and chunky to take around.

I'd get really angry at him.... and get him to pay for it.
well, I've been enduring his chocolate for 14 years now, and my parents is always on his side. and he didnt even say sorry, all i could think of was smashing him, but then again im not a person who hit little kid, so there wee go. from now on im not acknowledge him as my brother anymore, seriously.
