Ok, so I want a 1tb hard drive, but it has to be below $250 AUS.
I've been looking at this one:
Western Digital Elements 1TB
Any suggestions, warnings, etc?
Hmmm Western Digital are quite reknown for busting.....although mine hasn't and I've had it for 2 years.....just recently bought a 1tb Buffalo External HDD but I haven't really had the chance to use it yet...
lol my 750gb cost me £50 around june its a seagate and runs great
i just bought this one 2 weeks ago and it works great
WD MyBook Essentials 1TB @ JB HiFi
only $199 AUS aswell which i upgraded my Maxtor OneTouch4 250gb from.
its working great so far, but theres just something about it that i don't quite feel is right (don't let that put you off though :P)
@ben3gfc,
The WD Elements is actually supposed to be an improvement on the Mybook, which is supposed to have a much higher fail rate after 3 to 6 months. I was originally going to get that one but i read some bad reviews about it.
why don't you get an external HDD enclosure and just put a 1.5 TB or 1 TB in there? it worked well for me and it came with esata and usb 2.0 (and it was pretty cheap, 1.5 TB HD was 150$ CAD and the enclosure was something like 50$)
I just want to buy one, don't have an Esata connection on my HP DV6803AX Laptop, so there's no point.

ah poo poo
hmm what should i do, i think its been a bit longer than the return time...
maybe i should sell it to an unknowing individual then buy another one
Lol, Dunno, it was just a review I read, but as mehhakker said they do tend to fail. I guess you should either sell, see if its still in waranty or hope you are very lucky.
