Post all your did-u-knows in this post. For replying to a certain entry, please quote it. All irrelevant or bad entries will be removed. this is supposed to be a neatly organised topic etc etc yada yada Ok here goes :)

Did you know?
  • You can take a screenshot of the active window only by holding <ALT> when pressing <Printscreen>
  • Most windows utilities can be easily reached from the command-line (Start»Run). For example: sndvol32 for Volume Control, snrec32 for Sound Recorder, charmap for Character Map, taskman or taskmgr for Task Manager, calc for Calculator, mspaint for MS Paint, notepad for Notepad, iexplore for Internet Explorer, winword for MS Word, cleanmgr for Disk Cleanup, osk for On Screen Keyboard, and so on and so on.
  • You can easily access control panel windows from the command-line too. For example: desk.cpl for Display Properties, appwiz.cpl for Add and Remove Programs, sysdm.cpl for System Properties
  • Some control panel windows can be opened even more easily, for example Date and Time Properties can be opened by doubleclicking on the clock in the taskbar, and System Properties can be opened by right-clicking on My Computer in the Start menu and selecting Properties.
WOW i didn't know that

my vista did ya knows are:
did you know in the photo gallary you can get rid of red eyes
Knew all of that before... (I use the Run dialog for everything :P)

Did you know...
  • the command-line interpreter's DEBUG app actually lags when you type (and it's meant to be an assembler...)
  • Killing the winlogon.exe process will cause Windows to instantly crash and reboot - however, Task Manager, and the command-line taskkill won't allow you to terminate winlogon.exe
  • Using the Group Policy manager to block EXE execution (from explorer)  [this is typically used for public computers to prevent people running EXEs] can be easily bypassed by renaming the EXE to rundll32.exe

I'll think of some more later :P
did you know that the idea was to list loads of windows tricks but i couldnt think of any more :D
Hmm:
  • At the Windows logon screen, you're actually logged into an account called SYSTEM - as far as privileges is concerned, it has about the same amount of rights as a Power User
  • A lot of text/images can be changed by resource hacking - for example, the Start menu text can be changed by resource hacking explorer.exe
Damn, can't think of any other stupid ones (I learnt most of this from my days of hacking XP By the way :P)

Some, probably, more useful ones:
  • The Windows key is pretty awesome - hitting Win+E brings up explorer :P
  • If the setting is enabled, a key combination will crash Windows (can't remember which, but it's like pressing the Pause key twice or something)
  • Make new folders often?  Try (in explorer) hitting Alt+F, Enter, Enter...  (obvious, but a very useful shortcut)
Did you know that:
  • Windows = WinSucks
lol the last one (zb) doesn't work for me cause the FUCKY ati driver puts some lame thing at the top of the context menu there instead of 'New »'
Lol.  Does the ATI driver do anything useful?

Oh, to stay on-topic, erm, modifying processes with msconfig can stuff your system up :O
