Does anyone here know a way of changing the way that drag and drop behaves in Explorer. Currently, if i drag and drop a file from one folder to another, as long as the 2 folders are on the same drive it will simply move the file. But if the 2 folders are on seperate drives (exaple, local drive and a pen drive) it will make a copy of the file before moving it, so i end up with a copy of the file in both folders.
What i want to do is have Explorer make a copy of the file before moving it no matter where the source and destination folders are, be they on the same drive or on seperate ones. Last night i had a dig around control panel and TweakUI to see if there was a setting but i couldnt find anything. I've had a dig through google as well, still nothing that looks like it will work.
A few days ago i managed to lose my photo's from my recent trip to NYC. I was going to resize them all to put oon my MP3 player so i simply dragged the folder to the desktop before using the Image Resizer Power Toy to do all the legwork for me. I forgot that when dragging and dropping soething to and from the same drive that Explorer simply moves that 'something' and doesn't copy it. I then ended up with all my photos that were taken at 3 Mega pixels at 320x240. Luckily I hadnt emptied the camera's card so i got them all back from there. I can imagine though in future that I'm going to make this mistake again and do something irreversible.
Sorry if I'm blabbering on. Epigs available if someone can give me a fix.
