You might have realised that I've removed the latest threads on the forum index page, and replaced it with "popular threads" (latest posts are still there, I think latest threads isn't so useful).
"Popular threads" is somewhat similar to latest replied to threads, however it calculates a rating based on replies, views, time of posting etc. It currently doesn't take into consideration thread ratings - will probably add that in (though I may have to exclude the Music Ratings section).
The thing is updated every hour.
What do you think of this?

Except that the sPa/\/\ threads such as bored thread will most likely always be there :p
i like latest threads better, since people will look at them quickly..
popular threads will be popular anyways because of the amount of times they show on the latest reply box, and now the new threads will recieve few replies, if any... unless there are many people online at the time of posting the thread...

You've got a point there. New threads do show up in the latest posts, but it may be difficult if there's a heap of posts in other threads.
Hmm, does anyone really use the Who and When columns? I might just truncate some to just topic titles and just plainly list them like that.
As long as "Latest Posts" are still an option, I'm happy :)
it would be great if there was latest and popular threads, because with the exclusion of latest threads; the small (but interesting?) threads that are made from time to time will be swept under the carpet in no time at all :(
its a very nice feature; and finding popular/epic threads that just need to be read is a snap; but losing something to have it there really changes my likeliness of it
personally, i used latest threads a lot when i visited E.P. and had nowhere to look for the new discussions people were having; so really, i found it very useful

The weightings do need to be fixed a bit though.
I'll take out the author and time posted columns when I get the chance, and put the latest threads back in then.
