I was wondering. Do i really need to take this QBasic class? I want to be a web programmer. I was seeing how lenient QBasic is towards first time programmers. Do i really need it? I was taking it just to get use to programming. Now that im 3 weeks into it im getting bored of it. I want to learn C++ instead. I like a challenge. I was also wondering do i really need to learn a computer language to be a web programmer? It would help though...
QBasic is useless IMO. If you just want to write web scripts, choose a language (ie PHP) and go for it. C++ is useful if you want to move into other programming areas, but if you only plan to develop for the web, it's overkill.
QBasic is OLD...
the thing is that unless its C++ and C#, u don't need a previous programming exp. u just pick the language u want to learn and begin at the basics.. for web... Python, ruby and Perl are good..
yeah that's what i thought also. Its just that's all they have at the community college im going to. Im saving up to go to an arts institute to take classes just for web development courses. Thanks for the answers.
You can self learn most things really - this is especially true for computer topics. The only reason you'd probably go for classes is:
1) if you find it difficult to learn from a book/tutorial
2) to get a formal degree/qualification
yeah im learning php and javascript by reading books. But i want to get a degree to make my search for a job easier. I live near Sacramento CA so there should be a job out there for me. Unless CA submerges underwater when the 10.0 earthquake hits soon.
Probably doing some freelance projects might be more effective than a degree, as this shows you have experience, not just knowledge.
