Like some others on EP, I'm looking to get a new computer soon.  I've been looking around the net for a little while, and been piecing together ideas people have presented.  I want a ~800 rig that is capable of playing games, and will be able to play upcoming games (SC2, D3).  I still am unsure about my HDD and the DVD drive, but here is what I have so far.  Please comment.  I added hyperlinks for each.

E8400 - $170
IP35P - $70
2gb Ballistix PC2 6400 - $70
Antec EA500 - $90
Antec 900 - $140
^^ Together, you get a discount.
EVGA 8800 GT - $150
HDD - Not sure?
DVD+RW - Not sure?
GeminII HSF - $36

Total before rebates and without DVD and HDD: $726
Mind you, I've never tried putting a computer together before, but will have help once I get the parts.  Regardless, some criticism would be greatly appreciated.
Apparently, on MacMall (a mainly mac-focused online store, but it has a lot of PC stuff too) there's a special subscribers-only sale of a 1TB 3.5" SATA HDD @ 7200RPM for like $99 with a coupon code. Seeing as I'm not currently in the market for a desktop HDD, what with my laptop an all, I could give you that code if you want.

Also, I would suggest going up to 4GB RAM, it's not that much more expensive, and it boosts performance A LOT.
i heard western digital HD break down fast. also your case is too expensive. Looks cool though but it would be to noisy with all those fans.

Well, if I get the Antec PSU with it, I'll get a $60 discount. I've heard some people paying less for the Antec 900, though, and this was just quick linking to newegg. I'll end up doing lots of price comparisons before final purchases, though.

I've heard lots of good things about the Q6600, and was actually thinking about getting it for its OC'ing capabilities.

Also, any thoughts on the motherboard I chose?  I am still comparing motherboard reviews.

Yup..western digital is like the KMart brand of Hardrives...ESPECIALLY with only a 1 year warranty fudge that..

Seagate is all i buy, and for a system drive i buy 2x80gb 7200.11 and raid0 them then get some big drives for your data.  ZOOMZOOM

just bought a 640gig WD external drive,. :(

thought was ok,. because did't WD merged with maxtor,./1/?
No, that's was Seagate. But theyre ok for external storage, just too slow to run an OS on really, and generally of a lower build quality than others...
