I see Zinga that you sourced this from The Sun newspaper. The Sun is one of those papers that have page 3 girls (nothing wrong with that) and is aimed at the working class. now I'm not saying that the working class are stupid, but the Sun's sales technique is to generate fear among the stupid so that they will buy their paper. most of what is written in the sun is written in such a way that they're bending the truth to breaking point. there have been many scandals in the past relating to the Sun's conduct and how it misleads people.
if i were you don't trust it.
other than that i look forward to it. it should be fun. and if it all goes horribly wrong then at least wee don't have to worry about things like global warming (a myth, the earth is warming up on its own regardless of mankind's miniscule contribution) and poverty.

They aren't that stupid.
yea.. this is opposed just by some group of people who want the hype. When Galileo said Earth is not the center, the Church feared God's Wrath. Religion and Science are sworn enemies. too bad I'm on science's side. Without such experiments, the only way wee can progress our tech is if wee discover a Space faring civilization or its ruins.
Obviously, there must be many other civilizations in the Universe (and maybe our galaxy). Maybe some of them are Space faring. But do wee have the tech to discover them? No. Wee rely on light and radio reflections which are millions of years old.
Interestingly, Human Civilization is only about 10k-15k years old... funny... also, not to mention that Earth is a tiny grain in the ENTIRE amount of sand found on Earth.
Atoms are the among the most complex and the most vital structures.. its vital to understand them. If there is risk involved, so be it.
