well want i want to do is upgrade the 80GIG HDD in my PS3 to as high as i can get.. i know usb is pretty much unlimted as over 1tb works but ive read places that say its restricted to a 250gig internal... ive also read that it doesn't matter what size and a 500gig will work... dose anyone know what's the deal with it?? i don't want to get a 500 or 1000 gig laptop HDD if only a 250 works... ive got no other use for it.... those who know please help!!!
they say its restricted to 250b external usb but people have been using 1tb


besides 320gb the max you can get for a laptop hd unless hitachis 500gb is finally on wholesale
wait i have the manual.. im gonaa look... i thought i read the internal was restricted to 250... i too have read about people using over 1tb on exteranl.. but id rather have internal for my storage of games i bought and downloaded

keep in mind at the time of printing that 250gb was proabably the largest mfg drive!

theres lots of google results of peeps using 320s in the ps3
your right!! i was reading old stuff.. well its a 320 for me
yeah you can have any size (gb wise) aslong as it is a notebook 2.5" SATA drive, which there is really only 320gb as the largest avaliable currently.

I'm gonna do this aswell eventually, 40gb is a bit small for me :P
i did upgrade mine to a 160gb HDD.

yeah in SATA only.
Also just incase you wanted to or just didn't know, by changing the ps3's internal HD doesn't void your warranty. but if you need to send it back to Sony for repairs, you must send it back with the original HD that came with the system, so you might want to keep it just incase ;)
is there a way of backing up everything off the original HDD?
