Animated pngs are just gifs except the quality is kept and your not reduced to 256 colours.

they can be only viewed in firefox 3
and are backwards copatible but will only show the first frame

Huh, I thought animated PNGs were MPNGs or something.

Interesting though.

There's two "standards" for animated PNGs.

I believe MNG support existed in Firefox for quite a while, but APNG support was only added in FF3.
