I've seen many of this sort of thread before, which isn't completely unreasonable considering anime among others is a vastly discussed topic at EP and EP has a lot of knowledge and fans of Japan, Japanese, anime, and such topics. To keep it all together and easy to find for anyone with advanced knowledge on the subjects who is willing to help anyone with a question they have, and for anyone who may have a relevant question at some point, I decided it was a good idea to make one thread for such questions.
Of course I needed to make one anyway:
Could anyone translate and/or explain the (possible) meaning(s) of this please:
ままかわいそ
sounds like
ままかわいそう
because it is pitiful
but it could also be something along the lines of
ままかわい
Because it's cute (I don't know what the う is there for)
I really know but those would be my guesses.
also what context is this in? It's sort of hard with no context and no kanji
Edit:
Google says
"As sweet as..."
probably makes more sense.
"Mama, Kawaiso"
"Poor Mommy"
The word "kawaiso" is used to comfort someone.

aww
...
That type of mama would be spelt
ママ
because it is derived from an english word
so I'm going to have to disagree.
Unless it was typed by some japanese noob or something
Mama:
This is katakana- ママ
This is hiragana- まま
It's not typed by some Japanese noob.
It's some noob using Google translator.
Google's translation of "まま" is wrong.
Google's translator is far from accurate.
...okay
you probably know more than I do.
I just used a japanese to english dictionary and a years of rossetta stone.
so you probably know more than I do.
My japanese friend who is fluent in both japanese and english said: "if まま means Mom,The mama is poor." kawaiso = kawaisou かわいそ、 かわいそう
間間 (まま) [mama] = occasionally
佳話 (かわ) [kawa] = good story
礒 (いそ) [iso] = beach (rocky)

Wouldn't 側 (がわ) be "comfort someone" / "taking someone's side"

Don't break the word down. It's not hieroglyphics.
Kawaisou is one word, meaning "poor" or "pitiable". The word is used to comfort someone, usually children.
