i have 1gb of RAM and i think it's enough for me. since I'm a casual gamer, sometimes encoding videos.
i bought 3 notebooks today. they offered free upgrade from 1GB to 3GB ram. it had vista business. i told them to keep their ram for a discount and put XP on it. i am happy.
had i not chosen XP then i would have had to get the ram.
and whatever you do on vista
yes.
it needs more ram.
1.24 GB of RAM and that's plenty.
The most intensive program I run is Photoshop so... yea.
my macbook has 2gb and i definitely use it all. i could use 16gb if it were mainstream enough... as soon as i even start to run my virtual windows machine the ram is full, and it uses at least a few 100 megs of swap space most/all of the time...
i bet it would be faster with 4 gigs, which seems to be the mainstream now. i can get a $5-600 laptop with 4gb.
my laptops a macbok also its main OS is XP and only uses about 230mb ram at startup
don't vmware just dualboot
I have 3 gigs, but you can always use more ram
why would i want to dualboot, that's just not smart. i only reboot for games. for all the other stuff vmware is perfect, unless it's something intensive but i can't think of any that are strictly windows-only.
plus i like to use them together with Unity. what's easier, switching from firefox on mac to MSN on windows with 1 click, or rebooting every time you want to switch from window to window?
