Endless Paradigm

I have a friend that has a japanese PSP. I was wondering if it's possible to install Custom Firmware on it the same way I did on mine.

I used a pandora + magic memory stick using 3.71m33-2(or 4, i forget), I used these to install CFW on one slim and 3 phat PSPs so far, they were all american PSPs.

Can I use these same files to install CFW on my friend's Japanese PSP? Her PSP is a phat pink PSP she's had almost since launch date.

I was thinking that maybe I'd need the OFW from the japanese site, or maybe the PSP can pretty much be turned into american firm ware via turning it into CFW. I don't know and I am a bit on the dark on this, so help please~

yeah, region doesn't matter exept for UMD movies, so just plug it in and mod it

Hmm.. so by installing CFW on her PSP.. that means she'll also be able to watch region protected UMD movies, right? I remember her telling me she had a few she couldn't watch on her PSP. I think you can do so by using the fake UMD region in the recovery menu.

The fake UMD region option doesn't work, i expect that region is stored either using hardware, or perhaps in IDstorgae keys. Even if you use an english/amercian update, it will retain japanese region lock unfortunately :(

Oh well, atleast she'll be able to do a lot more with her PSP now other than listen to music and play one or two games.

I guess you could try downloading the movies, and converting, instead.  The UMD format for movies is really a shame...

Hmm.. this is odd, I just installed CFW but now she can't run the game beats she got from the Playstation Store.

Is there any way to fix this?
