OK, So I bought some new DJ equipment today (Serato Scratch Live), and thought "what better time to spend even more money on IT equipment than now"?

So I went to the local JB HiFi and looked around, I'm after something with 2GB RAM, 160GB+ HDD, and an OK processor, I don't play online games (other than nanaca crash LOL) so don't think I need anything too flash (pun intended).

The dude at JB has offered me this HP DV2833TX for NZD$1,333.  I think it's a good price, but what do you guys reckon?

I don't want to spend days scrounging for extra specs, just to save a dollar or two, and (quite) like the individual design of this laptop...

Your thoughts...?

i like it myself
Not bad specs, and it looks awesome, but you could save more than a bit if you looked around a bit i suspect

Still, its certainly worth the tag for that awesome deisgn
onnly 14" for that price,. O_o this is way to much $$

you should try and ask MaDcOw he owns a store,. ;),. i think,.
It's the specs I'm interested in... It's been a long time since I bought a computer (curent laptop is at 512MB RAM!).  Is this one all good?  Apparently the battery life is poor (80 mins running a DVD FWIW) and it's quite heavy (2.49KG).

Found better specs here
wow... i remember when that design competition was on... some long time ago...

for the laptop, try to stay away from 8400M and 8600M video cards, there are some reports on they being faulty after a while...
The specs arent bad, and i can't vouch for NZ, but over here in  the UK something around that spec would be 400, 450 tops, and for 500 you could get a larger screen, better battery life perhaps, or perhaps another 2GB of RAM even (64 bit OS, obviously then)
<macfag>Get a white MacBook. For about that same price, you could get a better computer. It's also sturdy, and the other features are pretty nice. IMO Apple's laptops are great. Plus, if you're worried about Windows programs and stuff, just install your Windows of choice with BootCamp
Look on MacMall.com for the best prices.</macfag>

That design, though, that's pretty damn awesome.

Never heard of it. But the laptop itself looks sleek and sexy.
