well, looks like I'm going to have an extra PSP mainboard on my hands pretty soon, what with having bricked mine and getting a replacement. so now my question is: does anyone know how i could access the EPROM directly and maybe try to salvage it, without getting a modchip that is? might even recover some of the expense for a new mobo, hopefully :P what tools would someone generically need in order to do that?
what EEPROM?

The PSP's flash chip is a NAND which is different from EEPROM.

That's why some people believe using the serial port to flash it would take way too long to perform.
serial port, you say? how would that work? :O sorry for calling it EPROM, but technically that's what it serves as, even if it's a NAND in disguise :P
I read some discussions about the serial port being used as a flasher.

Most people believe that it can't be done and if it could be done it would take too long to flash all the files.

Then again you wouldn't really need a lot. Probably just a small boot program.

That's all I know.
