anubis, if it's no bother could you please post the exact procedure you use, software and all? I've been yanking my hair all night over this and it's already morning, if you have a working method I'll make you a statue or something :P maybe if it still doesn't work could you share your method to process the gameboots after they've been created? sorry for the hassle but I'm at my wits' end here
Its basically what I suggested above.
At first I got a white screen, but when I deleted and then copied the gameboot to flash0 it worked.
Not sure why it doesn't work... I have 3.30 OE by the way.

it didn't work, and the difference in our firmwares would explain it: i think something got wonky with 3.40, not sure what and not sure why. maybe they updated the PMF player to an extent? :/
[EDIT] organ's worked. I'm trying to figure out what's different, mine lasts around 2 seconds and is 248KB, could they have messed with the maxsize again? hmm.
Okay I'll tell you every thang i do wen going to a new OE.
first wen in at my new OE I format my memary stick
then i go to recovery and copy the resource folder
then i exit recovery
and run flash agint to relink dummy files
then i delete flash agint
then i go back to recovery & put the .rco's & whatnot i won't in the resource folder
then i exit recovery and here say hello to my little friend lol

You flash your gameboot right i don't want to flash mine, that's the problem.
no just use flash agint to get mor space in flash 0.
Ok this gameboot I can confirm is working on my PSP right now.
If this one doesn't work, then there is probably something different in the new firmware.

Let me try wich version of flash agent did you use.
I'll be cursed, organ's method worked O.O O.O dunno what that program did different, maybe it was really the relinking... i also used flash agent to flash the gameboot, not the usb\flash0 method. i used flash agent G, and although it recognized my firmware as 3.03 it worked like a dream :D THANKS GUYS!
