i have been a techno DJ and it is not true.. listen a bit harder and there is a structure to good techno.. It is dance music so it has to have a regular beat..
Take the words out of a normal chart song and u have the same but at a slower beat...

Yeah people give sh!t to techno but I have to agree with bootpsp... take the singing out of any song, especially 'pop' [songs rapidly-produced to only make money and not have any consideration for art or creativity in anyway]; and they all sound the same....
Techno is a dead genre anyway - too many people throw the term around without even understanding WHAT it actually is! But it falls into the Electronica category of music which includes other great genre's such as...
Female vocal trance [yay], acid, happy-hardcore and gabba [also known as 'evil-hardcore'], psytrance and other experimental types... and my personal favorite, Freestyle Electro :D
of course there are more, MANY more; but you get the point.
