so i go down my sister's house today to help her install itunes on her new laptop (I'm the only real computer freak in my family).... anywayz when I'm there i had a brilliant thought in my head.... seeing as my hdd is fudged i thought i'd be able to get the hdd out of my sister's old laptop but i was horrified to find that she'd thrown it away........ all those spare parts that could've been used, gone..... down the drain......
i tell you...... my family seriously needs to catch up with me on technology....... i fear more things like this are in the waiting........

That is exactly what my aunt did. she threw away a computer better than mine because it had a virus and killed windows :/ I couldve just reinstalled it but no, she had to throw it away :/
My mom does that too. She says "if you not using those things, throw them away".
it is safe to say that adults do not have the knowledge it takes to be h4xXorzz like us....
I'm glad my dad consults me about tech to see if it's worthwhile to keep or not :P
I'm surprised they never thought about:
1) Selling it
2) Donating it
Dumping something like a computer is a big waste. I'm sure they have no idea how many resources it takes to make a single average computer...
Quote:For example, according to a recent UN study, the manufacture of a new computer and monitor uses 240kg of fossil fuels, 22kg of chemicals and 1500 litres of water. Similar quantities of materials are used in the manufacture of an average car.
(By the way, that's from a very old source - the details of the above may have changed by now)
