I want the new alienware gaming laptop but it's definitely not within the budget...

but its so cool! 2.8 ghz
Individually light keyboard sections
Dual graphics cards smart bay and you can customize it to your liking

...In fact I think they owe me a free one for the advertisement.

if only, if only
Personally, i hate gaming laptops

they're huge and really heavy; they defeat the purpose of why laptops were even made

if i want gaming, i need to be sitting down. and that's what a nice fat (but cheap!) personal computer can do at 2X the power

yeah a gaming laptop is nice, but its battery lasts for an hour and is not portable at all (you could'nt take it out in an airport and rest it on your lap, neither could you walk around with it for an hour)

for me, i do need some power in my laptop but i don't want it overly heavy and huge

just my two cents, some people may like gaming laptops and consider them portable :P
I think more the fact that you can sit however you want...

Don't get me wrong I love Daedalus but sometimes its better to just sit back with Compy on my lap and watch tv.

Besides I don't care as long as I can lift it and it has enormous power I don't care

same here. I need a laptop for programming, networking, a little graphics and documents, pdfs, music etc... I really wouldnt consider spending on a gaming laptop when I can assemble a really powerful PC in max 3/4 of that price. Add that to the fact that I havent played a game after Crysis, it makes sense to not spend on a powerful laptop.

Although I really like the XPS (HAWT logo), I may end up getting a cheap EEE PC or a Lenovo. PC's here are expensive and I need only a little portability.
