Maybe over there it's really hot for long periods of time, and so a pool would be a good idea. Over here where I live, it's cold most of the time, and you can't really use a pool much at all, so it's kind of pointless. Build a tennis court in backyard instead.
But then again, these houses look pretty nice, although their land is pretty small.

Probably not as luxurious as a standard pool, but saves you $10,000.
