yeah im also a member of a few private trackers like jpopsuki which i doubt will ever get sued.... i do use MN alot for some reason... its easier to find anime subs that way instead of having to check each sub groups website
mininova will not go down.. like they stated, if a publisher appeals to them, they will simply remove those torrents... thar'll be worse initially! too much filtering!

I disagree. (At least for someone in my position)

1. Private trackers imposes rules, like seeding ratios that you have to meet. (My max upload speed is like 6KB/s. No chance I'm seeding to a ratio of anything high for everything I download.)
2. Registration/login is very annoying
3. Not all torrent clients work with private trackers.

I'm with you man.
I don't have the time/energy to join all these private trackers with strict rules...

minninova rocked man.  Sad to hear of their troubles...
It's probably about time though.  I was wondering when Mininova would get targeted.

Interesting about Rapidshare/Megaupload/other sharing sites though...

1. Rules keep the site inline and no sPa/\/\ poo poo chocolatey torrents away.  When DLing a torrent your going to be uploading some back anyway so with a private tracker at least your ip and what not open for just anybody to see. (BREIN, MPAA, RIAA. ect)

2. Once your a member you can alway make a cookie and never need to login.

3. 95% of people use utorrent anyway and every tracker use's it.

In no way am I trying to start a flame war but that's just my thoughts

yes, however Pvt tracker is good only for those people who have the bandwidth to enjoy speeds and upload decently. People with limited bandwidth experience no difference what so ever. for 256kbps bandwidth, nothing anyone does is going to increase dl speed to more than ~30kbps. ul speed varies accordingly.

Well put.

My max upload rate is 6KB/s (actually, more like 5.5). And if I were to lets say download a 2gb game ISO... It would take me... 2*1024*1024/6/60/60 = 97.0903704 hours of continuous upload at max upload speed to get a seed ratio of 1. It's extremely unlikely I'm going to upload at max possible speed all the time, since that's going to make everything internet related retardedly slow, so it'll take like at least 150 hours. It's also extremely unlikely that I'll be uploading 24hrs a day. Lets say I upload 10 hours a day, it'll take me 15 days... 1/2 a month to just hit the seeding requirements. + Since my max download speed isn't great either, I can't take advantage of private trackers faster download speeds + Registration and stuff is annoying = No.

Internet in Australia = lame. $30/month for this 10GB capped piece of poo poo.
Never needed Private Trackers, Public ones have done the job fine. Not to mention the fact Public Trackers may have your IP, but Private Trackers will know much more detailed info on your downloading habits, let alone your E-mail address and any other info you may have on them.

I've always used Mininova, so I hope they can get through this one. Torrents aren't going down without a fight, a massive one.
ah well, the pirate bay is still up so no worries
